Heya ...
Elliot's BACK!!! Yay!!! I think she may be what was missing from the mix. The first couple of episodes this new season have been a little on the eh, not working as well as the past side. Elliot is a hilarious character. I always thought she was maybe minor compared to J.D. (a.k.a. "Carol") and Turk, but she truly is a major part of the ensemble. Her looniness and neuroticism are spot-on, definitely something the Scrubs recipe needs.
And wow, Dr. Bob really is a cynical, cruel, amazing ass***e, isn't he? I don't care how much J.D. wants to see the best in him, he's horrible. Kind of like the Un-Marcus Welby M.D.
Oh, and how fantastic was the "Kung Fu Fighting" bit with his briefcase? Did anybody recognize that 70's cheeseball gem right from the first few notes? Having grown up in the 70's I tagged it right away and knew we were in for something sublimely ridiculous. A definitely new "high moment" in the season for me.

Re: Anybody see the second night of Season 5?
Wed, January 11, 2006 - 9:24 PMI have to agree that Elliott is definitely a needed component of the show. i have to disagree about Dr. Kelso. The scene where he is leaving work at the end of the show exemplified how bothered he was that he was the one to make the tough decision to choose the rich guy for the tumor study. He did it to save the low budget prenatal ward. It sucks, perhaps he could have added another spot for the tumor vaccine trials. At the same time he made a tough decission to help a worth cause. -

Thu, January 12, 2006 - 7:38 PMAgree on Dr. Kelso. He has a heart he just keeps it very hidden. Remember when his gardener was in the hospital (in his office)?
Loved the safety dance.
Glad no one I know likes to play 'jiggly ball'--that looked painful! -

Re: Anybody see the second night of Season 5?
Wed, January 18, 2006 - 5:36 PMJiggly ball! Oh Lord that was funny. Some of the good old time Scrubs humor there.
I finally put my finger on what it is about J.D. (a.k.a. Dr. Dorian) that is bothering me so far this season. He's cocky. It's in his voice. It's higher.. It's annoying. He's a little more of the strut like a rooster guy now (though not nearly as bad as that doofy surgeon who always hits on the women). He still needs Cox to bring him down a notch, though, like he did with that patient whose diagnosis he got wrong in the second (9:30-10) episode last night.
Anybody else feel that way? I'm kind of bummed because J.D. is my favorite character.
Anyway ... Cox is still his insane (and insanely funny) self, which is great. Turk looks somehow different (is it the 'stache? He looks so much older all of a sudden!) I'd like to see some more involvement with the Turkleton and Carla storyline. But more than that I'd maybe even like to see J.D. get himself a brand new girlfriend who will add depth and interest to his character ... I mean, I *know* it's there, I just think that when he has a crush to bounce it off of it brings out more of his aspects.
Did anybody else feel like getting up and joining in when that nurse (dang, I forget her name) got up on the counter and serenaded the group with a rockin' church spiritual to spread the word that they would, yes they would indeed, all be gathering for the annual staff photo?
That was some serious old fashioned Scrubs spirit getting a bit of a new expression. They need to include that character more. Carla is still cool, and her little tailored individual message to all of the staff to lure them to the parking lot for the staff picture was a stroke of genius for the writers. It shows how much she really knows everybody's buttons in that place. She's a shrewd gal.
Now the only question left I have is ... do I watch too damn much TV? I am trying to cut down, really. I am. That was the ONLY tv I watched yesterday (well OK, except for the Will and Grace re-run at 11:30).
I missed the 9-9:30 Scrubs. Anybody care to give a lil' recap?
Thanks, y'all.
